On the South Island of New Zealand, I took the jet trip that surrounds Mt. Cook / Tasman glacier / Lake Hawea+Lake Wanaka/ Franz Josef and Fox glaciers region.
Its the first time I've joined a "scenic flight" , which means the flight is just for viewing scenery. The jet plane is so small, before I went actually I wasn't really sure is if was good idea or not. It seems like you can crash easily.
Other passengers included a young family from Pakistan. This was also the first time I met people from Pakistan, they were really nice. In fact I couldn't go to the airport by myself in Wanaka, I was hitchhiking with them and they carried me on the return. The young Pakistani father is a surgeon at Invercagill, they have been living in New Zealand for two years. Their two lovely children are good kids though. They are on their "Good Friday-Easter Monday" holiday.
Because of they are one family and two boys are still babies, they sat back of the jet. I choose the front seat -> next to the pilot !
It looks very easy to take off when flying the plane, just a few steps as far as checking everything, and keeping the plane horizontal while flying. Think about being a pilot, even the highest mountain is under you, and can enjoy fantastic views everyday, what a job!
