The Visitor-friendly New Zealander and Homestay in Christchurch

How do you call the local people of New Zealand? "Kiwi." or "New Zealander" ? No matter is New Zealander or Kiwi, they are extremely friendly to me. Let me share my own experience, and I really appreciate all their helps.

First, is my homestay host. Ms Heather Henderson. (picture with me) She has retired and lives at her ease with lovely 2 dogs (Holly and Lucy) and 2 cats(Rusty and sorry I forgot another one's name). She is a very talkative person and willing to know more interesting things in other countries. Her home is cute and beautiful you can see the picture here : http://photo.xuite.net/jobermuda/1657651 I really enjoyed living in there. The best thing is she taught me about how to shop and take transportation in Christchurch. Such as what kind of thing is cheaper in PAK'nSAVE, what kind of thing I should buy it from New World. It did help me save a lot of money. I felt very lucky coz some other students said some homestay families are poor people, they just want the money and don't pay attention to the guest. However in my case, probably after her husband died and her retirement she just needs some company. Many thanks, Heather.

Secondary, are all my teachers in language school. During the learning term I doubt sometimes is there really helps about my English ability? Because some of class just play some cards game or discuss sports. That was totally different from the way they teach in Taiwan. Too relax I think. But after I graduate, the opinions which teachers gave me, is really helpful. Its about my bad habit while I am speaking English. They are really "hit the nail on the head." Besides, between the class time, teachers speak to me and give me personal advise.

I've got help so many times during my journey. There was once I particularly want to mentioned when I went to Mt. Eden by myself. I hac no clue how to get on the hill-top coz the direction is weird. Then there was a local madam who was so nice, she found me and guided me to get to the hill-top. She came because she doubt I couldn't make it. She said my English is good enough, but my mountain climbing skill was not, ha ha!
